paradoxial commandments

Dr. Kent Keith  “is a dynamic speaker and writer whose mission is to help people find personal meaning in a crazy world.”

Ronovan shared quotes about respect. I recall it is a character trait that teachers try to instill in our students; self-respect and respect for others.

Aretha sang an unforgettable song about respect. Every one was singing it.

Whoever wrote this thought had a clear idea of what someone with a burning desire to tell a story will want in his tool kit. The ability to let your imagination fly free, and roots that keep you humble and stable, is a perfect combination.

Martha emailed me these haiku to me yesterday about two of my favorite well loved nieces. Thanks, little sis.

William H. Gass

Colleen and Ronovan invite us to share our favorite quotes each Friday and to write about how it inspires us.

William E. Gass

Publisher Weekly asked William H. Gass for five writing tips. One of the tips included, “Be happy because no one is seeing what you do, no one is listening to you, no one really cares what may be achieved, but sometimes accidents happen and beauty is born.”

The 91-year-old is a philosopher, critic and a novelist. It’s said some of  his writing is difficult to read.  We can forgive him that because his novellas are created with startling beauty.”

I haven’t read any of Gass’ philosophy books, nor do I plan to. I can’t post a video of his readings and discussions on You Tube because I don’t understand what he’s trying to say. The presentation would only appeal to other philosophers. Im interested in his novellas.

I enjoy his quotes, especially the one I used, and especially “change the world into words.” Are we writing about things that can change our world? Does what we write have a purpose or a driving theme that will cause our reader’s to understand how to make their world better?

ron and colleen

Ronovan and Colleen sponsor quotes on Wednesday. This is an opportunity for me to think about writers who have influenced me and select a quote that supports my philosophy of life and writing.

The author is unknown for both of the quotes.

giving upfeather

I’m slowing down on my posts. The fear is gone that bloggers and friends won’t enjoy what I write or how often I write. Just give it up, Meredith. Oh no, I would miss my friends. I’ll blog when I can try one more time. There doesn’t have to be a stop time just yet. What would I do with the ideas that come to me. Dreaming isn’t enough. I love sharing with all of you far too much to quit.

It is what you do when people from urban dictionary keep your definitions off.

Quit: I’m quitting it now, for sure I’ll come back to read definitions, but I’m not coming back to create and I hope that they get bankrupted and that they all fall from the tenth floor with their asses upside-down.

Quit 2: I have not that much time though.

Quit 3: I guess they’re haters or trolls, peace! Orr, aussie-ass democrats hahaha, stupid people! hahahhaaaa!

Meredith says, “When I get a new name from God, it’ll be hope.

Frank knows.

Think about imagination, it is that part of the mind that creates, that form new ideas or images not present to the senses. I enjoyed the Wiki article  How to Have a Big Imagination helpful.

My personal feelings about magic for authors is that it takes a big imagination and “time to relax and let your thoughts go free,” as Ronovan said in the BeWoW post. What  I’ve learned from my own personal experience writing a book takes time and hard work.
